Anthropologie Style – Shades of Glamour!

Norman Parkinson – London Docklands 1950′s
The lady-like trend returns with a vengeance this season but before you hot foot it down to your nearest vintage store, or raid your grandmothers closet, check out the latest collection at Uptowns Anthropologie where a modern assortment of retro style awaits with that ever important relevance!

cloche Hat $58
If you are drawn to retro yet are unfamiliar with its finer nuances, it’s perhaps advisable to stick to modern-day versions to prevent a sartorial catastrophe. Even the most seasoned of fashionistas have trouble negotiating true vintage. Anthropologie is THE store for everything vintage inspired. The store aesthetic evokes the feel of bygone times where you will find a good mix of high fashion too.

Gentle Touch Skirt $88
For Rachael we chose a day and evening look from current season. Check out the blood-red knit skirt which pairs beautifully with an unstructured button back sweater – perfect for a shopping trip or lunch date. Accessories are absolute key – do not underestimate the polished refinement of a hat.(booties rachaels own)

Umbered Houndstooth Coat $298
Evening focus is on outerwear! The simple cut of the aptly named ‘noon and night’ dress allows the beautiful ‘Umbered’ coat, with removable fur collar, to take centre stage. All pieces including accessories are available from Anthropologie at Uptown. Albuquerque.

I love both of these looks! The second look is so timeless and Rachel looks amazing. Well done ladies
I loved these looks!!….I bought the Gentle touch skirt and the tights, I already have an unstructured sweater to pair it with, but my favorite way to wear this, which Christine recomended to me as an alternative, is with my Theory Military Jacket that she found for me at 2 Time Couture. It is a great look!!……………..The Houndstooth coat is fabulous and I am considering buying it. I wasn’t sure about the dress but I have to say once Christine put the whole look together I felt like something out of an old Bond film!!!!!!!
I think both of these looks were perfect for you, Rachael, but for what it is worth I love the whole ‘day’ outfit most and think you would get your $$$$ worth out of that particular unstructured sweater
I was drawn to your vintage articles and the 50′s ladies looked really good. One would never have travelled out in the 50′s without white gloves, nylons (with suspenders) or a hat However, to go back to vintage even further there is an article in the British Daily Mail about a lady who lives in Victorian clothes and dresses always like the Countess of Grantham in Downton Abbey!
