The Quintessential Blog of Lifestyle and Fashion!

Laura Stansberry

My personal style is ALL over the place! I love carefree bohemian style with a little rock n’ roll edge and a weird mix of 70’s hippie style combined with 50’s glam! I really enjoy lacy crochet pieces because I think they are beautifully intricate and super feminine but equally I love any look that involves a black leather jacket. If I can mix lace and leather into a look then truly that’s what I am all about!

True Religion Brand Jeans F/W12

I currently work with True Religion Brand Jeans. Selling a great quality jean to so many different walks of life in the Nasvhille area is refreshing. I love the relaxed environment and brand loyalty of our clientelle. I think everyone who buys our denim is excited and proud to be wearing our brand of jeans and that is a good feeling as a retailer.

Building relationships with clients while building their wardrobe is my favorite part of managing a retail store. I think its amazing how you can take one item of clothing and make several different outfits to fit the styles of so many different women. I love helping people find looks that really represent who they are.

Hands down my black leather jacket is the piece from my closet I wear most. I pair it with fun tops and cute dresses which gives any outfit the edge I love.

I don’t discriminate when it comes to fashion shopping. I LOVE TO SHOP! Nordstroms, Blush Boutique, POSH, Target, Forever 21, Free People, True Religion, Bebe and Urban Outfitters are just a few of my favorite haunts!

Today I am wearing a Hamilton Wood Type Vintage tee (that I cut up and distressed), skinny jeans cuffed with a turquoise flat sandal. I love a cool graphic tee and I always end up cutting them up and making them just the way I like them!

My favorite pieces scored in a sale are the BEST pair of ankle boots for $5 and a pair of high-waisted red flares.

A key piece of advise I have leant from working fashion retail is that not all trends are for everyone! Sometimes you may love a trend but you just have to let it go. Self awareness is key…….followed closely by a good friend who will offer advise should you resemble a member of LMFAO in your revamped 80’s gear! Leave the trends to the tweens!

Jewelry is my kryptonite! I have a serious obsession! I wear big rings and lots of bracelets and prefer natural beads and stones over glitz and glam. A big turquoise stone ring wins my heart over the signature turquoise blue Tiffany box any day!

For shoes I love heels! Even though I am 5’9″ my heels have to be at least 4″ high!

Gwen Stefani wearing L.A.M.B. (her fashion label)

Singer Gwen Stefani (of No Doubt fame) is just incredible in my book.  She is beautiful, talented, creative and has a look all of her own. I like when people can create a signature look and she has completely achieved that without compromise. She is true to herself and her vibe/mood is instantly recognizable from what she is wearing – which is what fashion is all about – self expression! Equally, I admire her for her accomplishments as a business woman and mother and despite her celebrity status and rock star husband,  she is still down to earth and relatable.

Loveless Cafe Nashville c/o of lipsmackstudio.blogspot

There are so many fun places to hang in Nashville! For a “Nashville experience”, The Loveless Cafe is a must – great food and true to its roots. For live music and a fun laid back time, I go to Dan McGuinness to hear local singer/songwriters with my friend who hosts a weekly show. Broadway is a great experience for a Nashville honky-tonk good time!

I love all music – as long as I can dance to it! You will find Lana Del Ray, Ray LaMontague, Ellie Goulding, Cold Play, Oasis, John Mayer and Amos Lee on rotation on my iPod along with oldies such as Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Beatles. You can throw some country music in there too…….I mean I am from Nashville!

I have “Live life with passion” tattooed on my foot. I also love this quote from Maya Angelou – “You can only  become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the thing you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take your eyes off you”.

Big thanks to Laura Stansberry for this contribution. All photos, unless titled, are used with kind permission of Laura.Check out True Religion Brand here.
